Fire your pupils' imaginations with an inspiring visit to the temporary Art exhibitions in No.1 Smithery this Spring / Summer

Rail Art  (1st April – 13th May 2012)
An evocative and eclectic collection of heritage and modern original works of art from the hugely talented members of the Guild of Railway Artists.

Billy Childish (1st June – 30th September 2012)
Musician, poet, artist and cultural icon Billy Childish presents a series of his thought provoking paintings inspired by his residency at The Historic Dockyard.



Make a day of it by combining the temporary exhibition with a visit to our other galleries and attractions or spending time sketching in the grounds of The Historic Dockyard.

Art Themed Days - a whole day of practical taught activities linked to the current temporary exhibition.

Both Primary and Secondary Art Themed Days are available.
Each day will comprise two hands-on workshop sessions giving your pupils the chance to try their hand at a range of artistic techniques and activities as well as incorporating a facilitated visit to the relevant exhibition.


A once in a lifetime opportunity for Art A-Level students to work with an iconic artist



Artist Billy Childish will be running drawing and painting master classes for A-Level students. Classes will take place on HMS CAVALIER, our Second World War Destroyer.
