Living Literacy Day - Information for Teachers

Living Literacy Day - Information for Teachers The Education Department at The Historic Dockyard Chatham is delighted to offer a whole day of literacy activities based around our exciting ‘Historic Ships’ attraction. With the last surviving World War Two Destroyer and a Cold War spy submarine, this is the ideal venue to inspire youngsters and fire the imagination.

A Literacy lesson that doesn’t feel like a literacy lesson – that is the intention. With so much to see and experience, the youngsters will hardly realise that they have been developing their skills.

Vivid Victorians Day - Information for Teachers

Vivid Victorians Day Teachers' Guide The Education Department at The Historic Dockyard Chatham is delighted to offer a whole day of Victorian themed activities to support the curriculum at Key Stage Two.

With the 1878 Sloop HMS Gannet to climb aboard and an authentic Victorian factory environment to explore, The Historic Dockyard can help to bring the Victorian era to life. Our very successful ‘Windows into War’ days have taught us the value of active participation for our visiting pupils and the ‘Vivid Victorians’ day offers just that. There’s dressing up, cooking ships’ biscuits and even carrying out a factory inspection. In fact, your class will hardly realise they’ve had a History lesson at all!
