Family Activities during School Holidays
Myths and Monsters! 23-31 October
‘Myths & Monsters’ is the theme for the October school half term holiday activities at The Historic Dockyard Chatham running from 23rd to 31st October 2010.
At a time of year when thoughts of witches and ghosts are uppermost in the mind, the friendly witch Megan has stories of mythical creatures from the deep which will enchant, rather than scare, the younger ones. Children will find out about ghost ships, superstitions linked to the sea and the monsters and mermaids that either frightened or tempted the sailors of long ago. Craft fun will also be available from 11.30am to 3.30pm daily during this period too.
In the new No.1 Smithery there’s the opportunity for children to create their own museum gallery with ‘my sticker book’ and their own drawing on the children’s activity walk ‘Through Spencer’s Eyes’ (both at a small additional charge) as well as hands-on fun on the pipe-bending floor and in the activity room.
Whether you visit during the school holidays or at weekends during term time you’ll always find exciting things for the children to do on a visit to The Historic Dockyard - climbing through the hatches of a submarine or onto a lifeboat, sitting on the Captain’s Chair on the open bridge of our Second World War destroyer, making your own piece of rope, following interactive family trails or the outdoor adventure play and indoor soft play areas are just a few.
As tickets to The Historic Dockyard are valid for 12 months so return visits can be made throughout the year offering excellent value for money and no end of fun!
