Home Educator Day
19 Apr 2024
Here at The Historic Dockyard Chatham, Home Educators are welcome to book in for the day at any point during term times, by contacting our learning team but we also offer a number of home educator days throughout the year.
We are pleased to announce our next home educator day will take place on Friday 19 April, which will be focused on the Second World War. There will be sessions in both our air raid shelter and on-board HMS CAVALIER. These will give your children a chance to understand the experiences of sailors on a Second World War destroyer and get a feel for what it would have been like to be subject to an air raid.
You can also take the opportunity to explore our Steel Steam and Submarine gallery. The gallery focuses on the social history of the dockyard over the 19th and 20th centuries, including the vital activities of Chatham and its workers during both World Wars.
On arrival, you will have the opportunity to book a tour of our submarine HMS OCELOT, and a tour of our ropery.
All tours and sessions will be led by our experienced learning facilitators.
