By Bus:

A bus interchange can be found at Chatham Train Station and Bus Stop B is marked for buses to The Historic Dockyard and Chatham Maritime.

Arriva buses 140/141, The Dockside Outlet Shuttle and Amberlee University Service 2 provide frequent services from Chatham Station to Dock Road which runs alongside The Historic Dockyard.

Both Arriva and the Dockside Outlet Shuttle offer a hop-on, hop-off service allowing unlimited travel for one price.

Bus services may be limited at weekends and Bank Holidays.  Please check the timetable before travelling.  Other buses run to The Historic Dockyard Main Gate only and then on to Gillingham. Bus timetable information is available by ringing
+44 (0) 871 200 2233.  Visitors can alight at one of three stops - each requires a further short walk:
  1. The Historic Dockyard Main Gate - during normal opening times (10am - 6pm) you can enter here and you will be given a pass to walk through The Historic Dockyard site to the Admissions Desk where you should purchase your ticket.  Assistance can be provided by vehicle if required - just ask the Security officer at Main Gate.
  2. The Observatory - walk past the Leap Frog Day Nursery and through the barriers across the car park to The Historic Dockyard Visitor Entrance and Admissions Desk.  This is a private road and not under our control.  Therefore this is not an 'official' entrance but saves a bit of walking!
  3. Dockside Outlet Centre - Walk in front of the main entrance of the Dockside Outlet Centre, out of the car park to the roundabout with the Bell Mast to your right.  This is The Historic Dockyard Visitor Entrance if arriving by car.  Walk towards the covered slips on your right and across the car park to the Visitor Entrance and Admissions Desk.

By Taxi:

A taxi from the station is around £6 but may be higher at certain times and at weekends and Bank Holidays.  Ask to be taken to The Historic Dockyard Visitor Entrance off Western Avenue, not Main Gate.

Visitors to Tenants or Residents can enter The Historic Dockyard via either gate and should ask the taki driver to drop off at the relevant location on site.
