National Museums at Chatham
The Historic Dockyard has developed a unique partnership with the National Maritime Museum and the Imperial War Museum to create a new centre for world-class collections at the heart of the Dockyard.
National Museums at Chatham is a transformational project of national, regional and local significance. It will house and display the national museum partners' maritime model collections.
Maritime themed galleries will provide the focus for the new museum where exhibitions will evoke powerful human stories of our maritime heritage and the role it has played in shaping the Britain we know today.
Wide ranging themes such as trade, technology, science, war and migration will be explored. The collection repositories will be highly sustainable and built using 'leading-edge' passive environmental control techniques.
