April 2009 marks the 25th anniversary of the Chatham Historic Dockyard Trust.
Since its inception, through its strategy of preservation through re-use, the Trust has created a unique, vibrant and world-class heritage environment providing homes, work places and unrivalled visitor experiences.
It has transformed the heart of Britain’s most important former Royal Dockyard into a thriving 80-acre maritime heritage location that contains the largest concentration of iconic buildings, historic ships and museum exhibits in the country. This quite extraordinary place provides a visitor destination that explains as no other can the history of Britain’s emergence as a great power based on international trade and maritime supremacy.
Throughout 2009 we shall be celebrating what has been achieved, and marking The Historic Dockyard’s coming of age as the best example of ‘A Dockyard from the Age of Sail’ anywhere in the world. Do join us for
