You'll be transported back in time on Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th September when The Historic Dockyard Chatham holds its hugely popular Salute to the '40s event.

ZZ_1248864627_salute to the forties7.jpg The Historic Dockyard, itself much unaltered since the 1940s, will be brought alive by Naval, Military and Home Front re-enactors, wartime vehicles, period fashion and an exciting programme of wartime entertainment with humour, music and dance. Around every corner you'll encounter bombsite urchins, ‘spivs’, soldiers and sailors, coppers and Dockyard Maties.

ZZ_1248863099_salute to the forties5.jpg This year, to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Chatham Historic Trust, the theme of the event will be linked into the rejoicing that took place in the summer of 1945 as Britain finally saw the end in sight. ‘Street party celebrations’ and ‘sing-a-longs’ will be the order of the day!   More .....|
