The Courtyard, a large open central space which allows visitors to view most of the original building will be dedicated to education and performance. Its central position allows the entirety of the building to be fully appreciated. Many of the original architectural features, such as huge anchor pits and chimneys, remain in place within this evocative open space and will be used to inspire a range of science and education programmes. This area will also be used for family activities , including 'Pirate Play Days’ – a pirate themed extravaganza throughout the summer holidays.
